Haiku (Poem)
Inspired by the hip-hop I grew up on, I created this Haiku using the elements of hip-hop culture, intertwining the theme of love.
Love is dope and fly
an old school tape recorder
with no stop button.
Free-Form
Incorporating some rhyming elements, this free-form poem was written for a student with autism graduating from high school.
Turn left. Turn right.
Yield.
To what is possible.
Achievable.
Believable. You made the unbelievable. Believable.
Unwavering focus. Determination. Kind heart. Good soul.We give thanks. Immense gratitude and jubilation
for the gift of celebrating you
and the achievement of your high school graduation.

Micro-Essays

West Los Angeles, CA, Hotel JuneA recent family gathering led to a stay at the cute, vibey Hotel June in Culver City, CA. Modern rooms with reasonable rates and a 35-55 minute drive to Downtown L.A., contingent on traffic. It is a lovely hotel for solo travelers, couples, and families. Public transit seemed limited, so I'd suggest rideshare or a car for navigating around. Also, limited eating options next to the hotel, except for an adjacent grocery store and cafe, where items were overpriced items i.e. $17.01 for lox toasted sourdough bread! Save your coins and drive/walk up a block or two to grab essential items.LAX is the nearest airport, with a 10-20 minute drive from the hotel.
